CHAPTER 29
The coming forth of the Book of Mormon is a sign that the Lord has commenced to gather Israel and fulfill His covenants—Those who reject His latter-day revelations and gifts will be cursed. About A.D. 34–35.
And now behold, I say unto you that when the Lord shall see fit, in his wisdom, that these sayings shall acome unto the Gentiles according to his word, then ye may know that the bcovenant which the Father hath made with the children of Israel, concerning their restoration to the clands of their inheritance, is already beginning to be fulfilled. Another reminder of the importance of this covenant between the Father and the children of Israel and the promises of God ALL have to be fulfilled!
And ye may know that the words of the Lord, which have been spoken by the holy prophets, shall all be fulfilled; and ye need not say that the Lord adelays his coming unto the children of Israel. And here is another evidence that one of the important reasons we have the Book of Mormon is so that we may know what the prophecies are, that have been spoken by the prophets, so that we may BELIEVE them and recognize them when they come to pass. The reference to saying the Lord delays his coming suggests that when we say that, we stop doing the things we need to do to be ready for Him and become selfish and slothful. Sounds like the righteous should not be the ones saying "the Lord delays His coming..."
And ye need not imagine in your hearts that the words which have been spoken are vain, for behold, the Lord will remember his covenant which he hath made unto his people of the house of Israel.
And when ye shall see these sayings coming forth among you, then ye need not any longer spurn at the doings of the Lord, for the asword of his bjustice is in his right hand; and behold, at that day, if ye shall spurn at his doings he will cause that it shall soon overtake you. Here is our warning: 3 Nephi 20:20 And it shall come to pass, saith the Father, that the sword of my justice shall hang over them at that day; and except they repent it shall fall upon them, saith the Father, yea, even upon all the nations of the Gentiles. And what do we need to repent of?
aWo unto him that bspurneth at the doings of the Lord; yea, wo unto him that shall cdeny the Christ and his works! 1. rejecting the Book of Mormon doctrine and prophecies "with contempt" 2. Denying Christ (think Mark of the beast) 3. Denying the works of Christ (what would those be? Miracles performed through His servant(s)?
Yea, awo unto him that shall deny the revelations of the Lord, and that shall say the Lord no longer worketh by revelation, or by prophecy, or by bgifts, or by tongues, or by healings, or by the power of the Holy Ghost! 4. rejecting new revelations of the Lord and new prophecy and healings. and speaking in tongues
Yea, and wo unto him that shall say at that day, to get again, that there can be bno miracle wrought by Jesus Christ; for he that doeth this shall become clike unto the son of perdition, for whom there was no mercy, according to the word of Christ! 5. denying miracles 6. priestcraft
Yea, and ye need not any longer ahiss, nor bspurn, nor make game of the Jews interesting expression...nor any of the remnant of the house of Israel; for behold, the Lord remembereth his covenant unto them, and he will do unto them according to that which he hath sworn. 2 Nephi 29:5 O ye Gentiles, have ye remembered the Jews, mine ancient covenant people? Nay; but ye have cursed them, and have hated them, and have not sought to recover them. But behold, I will return all these things upon your own heads; for I the Lord have not forgotten my people. How are we guilty of these in the current circumstances. Israel won't let us have missionaries. We do have a Jerusalem Center over there and try to have influence that way.... what more could we be doing? Is this a future condemnation? It certainly is a prophecy. Is it referring to the Holocaust and the European Gentiles? They certainly cursed and hated them then...maybe we need to do more work among the Jews who live outside of Israel. Think of the Messianic Jew movement even within the country. Is there a way we should be partnering with them?
Therefore ye need not suppose that ye can turn the right hand of the Lord unto the left, that he may not execute judgment unto the fulfilling of the covenant which he hath made unto the house of Israel.
